Fun & Fearless Fitness

Taking the fear out of fitness...

Joining a fitness class should never be scary.

Fitness should become a part of our daily routine because it’s fun, we love the activity, we are inspired by the instructor, and we enjoy the people we work out with.

We should look forward to the opportunity to work out and de-stress at the end of a long day, not dread it.

At Scary Bunny, our classes are created with all ages and fitness levels in mind.

Whether you are 40 plus and new to fitness, or an active ager, we want you to feel successful, strong and empowered when you leave any one of our workouts. Scary Bunny is a community of fit and happy people that are enjoying life to the fullest because we can!

Indoor fitness classes are currently being delivered online via Zoom.  Nordic Walking classes continue outdoors all year round and follow the most current and recommended AHS safety protocols.

Kettlebell classes are outdoors through the spring/summer/fall season.  They will be delivered via Zoom in wet weather and through the winter months.

Kettlebell Fitness Training

Kettlebell classes are held outdoors in the spring, summer, and fall at:

Cambrian Heights School Playground

640 Northmount Drive NW • Calgary AB

And are held online via Zoom during the winter months or when the weather is inclement.

Experience the feeling of empowerment that comes from a strong mind and a strong body with Kettlebell training!

Our bodies were designed to move. From the time we are born, our bodies learn to crawl, walk, run, kick, hop and jump. Our daily lives require us to squat, turn, twist, pull, push, and lift. So often we focus our fitness routine on cardio training alone. We forget that we need to also train our bodies for longevity and injury prevention by working on our strength, coordination, balance, reaction time and flexibility skills.

Swinging a kettlebell (or two!) will not only increase your heart rate without any impact on your joints, but it will also train your body to be stronger and more confident. By incorporating martial arts motion into the workout, we also improve our flexibility, mobility, and reaction time.

Think personal training in a group fitness environment. This workout is all about YOU!

YOUR fitness level today,  YOUR individual fitness goals, and YOUR personal physical considerations.

All fitness levels welcome.

Yoga mat and kettlebell (or weight), bare feet or workout shoes.  Most students begin their training journey with a 10lb (4kg) kettlebell. They average in price around $2.00+ per lb.

Let’s FACE it Together™ (LFIT) Facial Exercise

Improve facial expression, confidence, and fight the signs of aging in a natural way!

Most people will spend time and money going to a fitness class to work on strengthening the muscles in their body, but few people spend time strengthening the muscles in their face and neck. Just as the muscles in our arms and legs will strengthen when we embark on a fitness program, the muscles in our face and neck will strengthen and tighten when we exercise them.

Let’s FACE It Together™ program can also be used to rehabilitate and restore muscle function in the face. Research shows that people who have suffered facial muscle trauma have been able to regain facial movements by increasing their facial muscle strength. Those affected by Parkinson’s disease, strokes, and many muscular degenerative diseases can keep their facial muscles functioning to their best ability when adding facial exercises into their daily routines.

You can’t help but laugh as you experience all the funny faces we make during this half hour class.  All you need to bring to this class is your sense of humour!

I Am Ageless Now™ Method

What does it mean to be ageless?

Aging isn’t just skin deep. It’s about wellness, movement, attitude, habits, mindset, and nutrition.

I think we can all agree, that whatever our chronological age, we want to enjoy life pain free and with more energy, flexibility, mobility, and strength.

Whether you are in your 40’s, your 80’s, or somewhere in between, daily activities and movements that were once easy and enjoyable may be a tad more challenging or may even be painful.

High impact sports, the wrong diet, high heels, too much time in front of the computer or television…eventually, these things impact our mobility and flexibility.

The “I Am Ageless Now™ Method” promotes a more vital, active, and pain-free lifestyle, whatever your age or stage of life.  Using a foam roller and/or tennis ball, we will massage to keep our fascia flexible, use gentle movement to lubricate our joints and promote better mobility and flexibility, and use our body weight to train for our active and functional life.

Come experience this rejuvenating body, mind, and spirit session for yourself, and enjoy life pain free with more energy, flexibility, mobility, and strength.

Yoga mat, bare feet, and a tennis ball or small massage ball. Optional – foam roller, Pilate’s ball, or small throw cushion.  A chair can be at hand should you require it for balance during the standing portion of the class.

“Relax, Restore, and Rejuvenate”

Come experience this rejuvenating body, mind, and spirit session for yourself, and enjoy life pain free with more energy, flexibility, mobility, and strength.

The strengthening, stretching, and self massage that we will experience in this class are key to enjoying a more active life with less pain and more vitality.  Live the life that you want to with more energy, functionality, flexibility, mobility, and strength.

Yoga mat, bare feet, and a tennis ball or small massage ball.

Optional:  foam roller, Pilate’s ball, Glider disks.

(See FAQs section for alternative equipment options.)

Relax…you deserve this!

Nordic Walking

Move your body, boost your mood, and enjoy the beauty of nature that surrounds us, all year round!

New Mom’s, Active Ager’s, and Everyone In-Between!
Did you know that Nordic Walking Fitness:

    • Is NOT specifically a Senior or Older Adult activity? It’s for everyone.
    • Burns up to 46% more calories than standard walking, activates the core and sculpts arms and shoulders.
    • Uses 90 percent of your muscles—especially those underused upper body muscles, contributing to great posture and improved balance at any age.

Whatever your age, Nordic Walking is a terrific way to be both social and active with friends and family. It’s also a great way for new Moms to get back into fitness – strap on your child carrier and get outside for some fresh air and a change of scenery. Nordic Walking is an all-in-one energizing, mood boosting, cardio and muscle building fitness activity for all ages and abilities.

Learn the benefits of walking with Nordic Walking fitness poles, the differences between fitness poles and hiking poles, and how to set their height to obtain optimal results when walking with them. We will then take them to the street and learn the “plant, push, and propel” technique that makes this activity such a great full body, cardio, core, and strength workout.

“Private, semi-private and group lessons available.”

All fitness levels welcome! Nordic walking poles are provided for use in class and are sanitized prior to use.

Contact me for more information on our upcoming classes or to arrange a private, semi-private lesson. Private and semi-private classes (60 minutes) are ideal for people who prefer to learn at their own pace and at a time and location that’s most convenient for them.
